Household Disaster Preparedness Workshop

Opportunity to Help Your Neighbors Prepare for Disasters

Neighbor 2 Neighbor (N2N) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) are working together to offer local neighborhood groups the opportunity to host a Household Disaster Preparedness Workshop in their neighborhood.

Our metropolitan area is increasingly experiencing severe weather with greater intensity and frequency, with a larger area of impact. Ensuring that our community is prepared is of utmost concern. The free 90-minute workshops will help residents in the following ways:

  • Identify the most likely disasters (natural and humanmade) to impact their neighborhood

  • Prepare a personalized household disaster plan

  • Organize a disaster go bag / shelter in place box

  • Become familiar with what should and shouldn't be done before, during, and after a disaster

Susan Mulcahy (N2N) and Jeff Stark (OEM) will co-facilitate the workshops that will be held beginning in January 2023.

Neighborhood groups wishing to partner with N2N + OEM will be responsible for the following:

  1. Find a date that works for you, your neighbors, and our co-facilitators

  2. Secure a location for the workshop

  3. Invite and encourage your neighbors to attend

We need to have at least five people (each from a different household) committed to attending.
